  • The Oxford Cultural Council (OCC) is looking for new members. By law we are allowed up to 22 members to serve the Oxford community by reviewing grant applications and more. If you are interested, please e-mail oxfordculturalcouncil@gmail.com or contact the Town Manager. Read our Mission statement and OCC guidelines below.
  • We may be asking residents to answer a survey in 2010 about the Council's work. If you do receive a survey, please do take a few moments to answer. This helps the OCC to consider which programs best benefit the town. Thank you!

The mission of the MCC and its local council partners is "to promote excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences, in order to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of our communities.

For more information visit:

 www.massculturalcouncil.org/applications/lccguidelines.pdf
In addition to the MCC guidelines, the Oxford Cultural Council has established the following guidelines:

1. Application forms are available at the Oxford Library, Town Hall, and online at: www.massculturalcounci.org/applications/lccapp
and
www.massculturalcouncil/applications/pass app.html   (no typewriter required).
Applications must be typewritten, with all sections complete. Don't forget to sign it. Please double-check your calculations in the Budget section to be sure the figures balance. Both sides of the Budget section must be filled out. Incomplete applications cannot be considered.   If you have any questions about filling out the application, contact an OCC member for help. E-mail oxfordculturalcouncil@gmail.com.

2. Please submit one copy each of the application and the supporting material. Don't forget to keep a copy for yourself.

3. Projects must take place within and/or involve residents from Oxford.

4. Applicants whose projects involve an Oxford institution or organization must have a prior written commitment from that institution or organization. Applications that indicate only that the project is available to any interested organization will not be considered.

5. Any school or organization submitting multiple requests for funding must prioritize their projects so that if funding is limited, the most important projects get appropriate attention. This is very important.

6. All funds are distributed on a reimbursement basis only, with reimbursement limited to the cultural aspects of the program (not to ancillary expenses such as transportation or sound equipment).

7. Please note that we must take into consideration what is called dependency. This means that if the OCC has funded an applicant's project for three years in a row, the applicant could be becoming dependent on funding by the Council and should seek funding elsewhere, at least for a while.
