The Program:
The After School Alliance is a program designed to provide a structured after school program for working parents that encourages positive behaviors for children. Homework help and an activity period occur each day. The program operates Monday through Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM when school is in session. Children may sign up for the program one day a week or five days per week. Children may also sign up for a portion of the afternoon at a reduced rate to coincide with other activities the Oxford Community Center offers. Programs that offer this option will be identified in the brochure. Children must be enrolled in the first grade or higher.
Daily schedule:
As the children arrive, they will be expected to start on their homework. A healthy snack will be provided. Activities will be planned each day, such as, gym time, arts and crafts, game room time and outside activity when the weather permits. Computers are available for student use each day in our computer lab for homework.
Teacher to Child Ratio:
The ratio will be maintained at a 1 teacher to every 10 children, however, you need to make sure you register in advance for every day you need care in order to retain this ratio. Drop-in care will not be accepted for this reason. Pre-registration is required.
COST: $10.00 PER DAY UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED
$8.00 PER DAY FOR A SECOND SIBLING
The Oxford Community Center After School Alliance’s Mission Statement:
The Oxford Community Center’s After School Alliance Outreach Program is an enrichment program designed to provide opportunities that encourage positive behaviors for children ages seven to thirteen years old. The program offers children a safe place to go after school to receive homework assistance and participate in activities that foster creativity, self-respect and positive social relationships.
The afternoon is broken down into three time blocks:
2:30 to 4:00 - Arrivals, Homework Investment, Tutoring and Research Time
4:00 to 5:00 - Structured Activity (Fine Arts, Science, Teambuilding, Cooking)
5:00 to 6:00 - Open Recreation Room or Gymnasium Time
