The Locust Street/Clover Street Improvements Project calls for the reconstruction of both roadways. One of the primary goals of this project is to clearly define the curb line of the roadway in the vicinity of the Chaffee School to improve pedestrian safety. This will be accomplished by reconstructing the sidewalks and adding vertical faced curb. These measures will prevent vehicles from driving or parking on the sidewalk. New sidewalks will be installed from Route 12 to the existing sidewalks on Clover Street. Major drainage improvements are proposed as part of the project scope as well. The roadways will be re-graded to improve the roadway crown and promote desirable drainage conditions.
Pipe and drainage structure work will take place to add to/improve upon the municipal drainage system.
This project will be completed utilizing a phased approach. DPW anticipates the project will take at least two construction seasons to complete the project in its entirety.
Construction will take place during the summer months while school is not in session, therefore minimal impacts to school transportation are anticipated. DPW will coordinate with the School Department should any accommodations need to be made for school transportation.
Every effort will be made to limit inconveniences to residents, business owners, and local traffic. For any questions or concerns regarding the project or construction activity please contact the DPW office.
