The Oxford Fire/EMS department hosts an Explorer Post. These Explorers are dedicated high school men and women who have shown an interest in the Fire and Emergency Medical services. These ambitious young men and women are trained in CPR and First Aid, are issued explorer uniforms which closely resemble the uniforms worn by the town's fire fighters, and help out the Fire/EMS Department during events and some emergencies. Some of them even ride the apparatus to emergencies, once cleared to do so by the department. Explorers can participate in this "ride along" program in
which they respond to incidents as observers, or assist on incidents according to their experience and under the supervision of the fire officer. They meet and train every other week at Fire Headquarters, 181 Main St, Oxford, on Wednesdays at 1830. For more information about the explorer program, please contact FIRE HEADQUARTERS.
